Yes it has.
ISO 9001:1987-94 version
The intent was to achieve customer satisfaction by preventing nonconformity.
ISO 9001:2000 version
The intent changed to reflect that:
- Organizations design and manage their processes effectively to achieve corporate objectives, not that they create functional silos that compete for resources.
- Organizations choose the right things to do based on an objective analysis of the environment in which they operate, not slavishly follow procedures that serve no practical purpose.
- Management create an environment in which people will be motivated, not create bureaucratic systems of documentation that stifle initiative and creativity.
ISO 9001:2015 version
The intent is remains the same except in addition it is now
- To harmonise common text and terminology so that they are easy to use and are compatible with each other
- To sustain performance by enabling the organization’s products and services to satisfy the relevant requirements of all relevant stakeholders.
